The Australia Post website, on the 3 June 2020, announced that since September 2019, it had launched its Local Souvenirs range, to help Post Offices show off their own city or town to tourists and to promote a sense of pride among locals. The range included postcards, mugs, coasters, tea towels, tote bags, stubby holders and drink bottles. The subjects featured are selected in consultation with each location, to ensure an authentic, local feel.
The first 11 stores to launch the range of souvenirs were: Port Macquarie and Sydney, New South Wales; Cairns and Brisbane, Queensland; Melbourne, Warrnambool, Bendigo and Swan Hill, Victoria; and Perth (St Georges Terrace), Geraldton and Broome, Western Australia. The cards included a white lower panel with the name of the town and postcode.
The cards on the banner suggest that the MCG by night and the Adelaide oval are among the issues. (They have however not been seen) Some cards were latter published without the panel, town name and postcode.
A series of “Greetings from” postcards were also issued for most capital cities along with the Gold Coast. The Melbourne card included a player taking a mark. In retrospect it appears only the Melbourne and Gold Coast cards were issued.
