2017 Premiers: The Tigers

The AFL Grand Final for 2017 was played at the MCG on the 30 September 2017.

After 37 years, the Richmond Tigers are once again the Premiers of the AFL. There last win was in 1980. In front of the biggest crowd since 1986, 100,021, the Tigers defeated the Adelaide Crows by 48 points. The final score was 16.12.108 to 8.12.60.

The Crows failed on their biggest day.

A Limited Edition of 2017 Medallion Covers were released by Australia Post on the 1 November 2017. The cover contained a Richmond Premiership medallion, the Postmark is the “seasonal postmark” showing a player with the Richmond sash and the stamp is the Map of Australia stamp with the Tiger Logo in the selvedge. The map details are on the back of the cover.

Australia Post also issued a SSS (Souvenir Stamp Sheet) with eight Flowering Gum stamps with the Tiger Logo in the selvedge.

Coversplease also produced two cover both to celebrate the premiership victory and also to honour Dustin Martin who won the Norm Smith Medal for best on the ground. Earlier in the week he had also picked up “Charlie” for the fairest and best of the season. Both covers were postmarked with the Tigers Postmark initially issued on the 17th September 2008.
