2016 Aussie Alphabet Part 2

On the 16 August 2016 Australia Post issued Part two of the Fair Dinkum Aussie Alphabet Series. The illustrations are based on five letters of the alphabet: A, C, L, R, T. (T for Tassie as it was the only state left out of Part One.

A is for Aussie Rules …

“Aaron the Aussie Rules Aficionado, anxiously anticipating a win for Adelaide.”

The booklet was issued with 10 Peel and Stick stamps and was also available in a cheque book of 200 stamps.

Wesley Cover Service (WCS), recently acquired by Michael Eastick following the demise of Michael Hudson, issued a set of five FDC of the booklets with the FDI postmark.

The Gummed stamps were available in sheets of 50 stamps for each individual stamp. There was no special design.

Impressions 2016 included a “Distinctly Australian” PNC. It was available in a limited number of 150 for S149.95. It contained a brightly coloured $5.00 coin from the Royal Australian Mint. Among 3 Alphabet series 2 stamps it had the “A” for “Aaron the Aussie Rules Aficionado, anxiously anticipating a win for Adelaide.” Of more significance was the insert which showed an Aussie Rules ball. (I missed out on the ballot and had to buy the PNC on Ebay at a significantly higher price)

Also available in the Limited edition section was an A to Z of Australia minisheet collection. It contained 12 minisheets and was produced in a limited number of 250 and cost $89.95. It contained the following minisheet. It contained four “A” stamps and an old well used football.

Postmarks

The First Day of Issue Postmark for the Fair Dinkum Aussie Alphabet Part 2 series showed a boot kicking a football. Presumably it was an Adelaide boot as this was shown on the stamp. It was used for the FDC, PNC, Maxi Cards and Private covers such as the WCS FDC of the booklets. The second postmark was used on a PNC issued as a limited quantity of 200 at the ANDA Melbourne Coin and Stamp Show, the second day being the 28 August when the PNC was released.
