2005 Premiers: The Swans

The Sydney Swans won their first Premiership since 1933, and their first since moving to Sydney in 1982, to start the national competition. It was one of the best finals of all time with the Swans winning by four points, when Leo Barry took a mark deep in the backline seconds before the final siren sounded.

First Class Collectables

First Class Collectables released a set of covers dated the 24th September 2005, the day of the game. They show Barry Hall, Team with Cup, Team and Coach, Team & Tickertape and Leo Barry.

They also released a set of cover with the Premiership Pstamp for all the members of the team.

Another set was issued with the Swans 2005 Footy P stamp.

They also issued a signature set.

Coversplease released a commemorative cover for the break through premiership, along with covers for each of the players.

In a follow on from 2004, Australia Post issued a Souvenir Event Sheet on Monday the 26th September to commemorate the win. The sheet had ten Globe and map stamps with the Premiership Cup in the label. Like 2004 the sheet was a cut down version with no surround border.

After the Swans won the 2005 Premiership the 2005 P stamp booklet was overprinted to celebrate the win.
