The Lions travelled to Melbourne as favourites to take their second premiership against Collingwood. After the media galvanising support for the Magpies as the Victorian Team against the northern invaders, the Lions still had good support at the Grand Final Parade. A celebratory dinner was held at the Colonial Stadium.

It was then back to Brisbane for a celebration at the Gabba. This was latter in the week followed by a parade through the streets of Brisbane. Latter their will be a civic reception by the premier.
