The Grenadines are a chain of small islands that lie on a line between the larger islands of Saint Vincent and Grenada in the Lesser Antilles, in the southeastern Caribbean Sea . The northern two-thirds of the chain, including about 32 islands and cays, are part of the country of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The southern third of the chain belongs to the country of Grenada.
Grenada has issued stamps since independence in 1974. Stamps inscribed “Grenada Grenadines” were issued from 1973 to 1999 for the islands of the Grenadines located to the north of Grenada. Since 1999, stamps for the Grenadines are marked “Grenada Carriacou & Petite Martinique”.
In the modern period Grenada has issued large numbers of stamps aimed at the thematic collectors market, particularly Disney Stamps.
